1/26/16 Board Meeting Results

The proposal had a 3 to 1 vote (Marne Foster was not in attendance) to move forward.  There will be an Environmental Report conducted which will have a time for public input and will delay the project by approximately 10 months.  The board will meet again when the Environmental Report is complete and have a final vote on the project.

The meeting was very long. Listen to Michael McQuary’s questions and comments that start around 3:49 to get an idea of how he came to his conclusion.  All said, Michael McQuary, Richard Barrera, and John Lee Evans were in favor; Kevin Beiser was against.

Updates... gaining support

The district will vote on this Tuesday, Jan. 26th to decide if the Monarch 264- Unit Apartment complex should be built on the current Innovations Academy (Farmer's Market) site.  Please look at the documents and statements of opposition that have been posted on the Facts and Information Page. We are getting opposition statements from politicians in the area.  Please look under the How to Get Involved page.  We must continue to unite and let the District Board of Trustees know that Scripps Ranch will not let them put money before our STUDENTS and COMMUNITY.

NEW Petition- Please sign and spread the word

Please sign this and blast this link to every San Diegan you know of -
Nextdoor neighborhoods, community email lists, Facebook pages etc.
Thank you to everyone who came to the SR Schools Committee meeting on 1/20/16.  The Schools Committee voted unanimously to oppose the agenda item.  We have Kevin Beiser's NO vote, however, we need to reach the other four board trustees who will be voting on 1/26/16.
Please contact them directly (email addresses), but they need to hear it big.  Hence here’s one way.  The petition below can be signed by ANY San Diegan and is addressed to the four members of the board who have not let their position on the leasing of school land to build an apartment building to vote no on this project.  This one just went up so hopefully it gathers mass soon.

KUSI
NBC San Diego
CBS 8

Take home ideas from the meeting:
  • Kevin Beiser will be voting NO on Tues. Jan 26th board meeting but we need at least 2 other board trustees to vote NO or the item will pass and the apartment development will go through.
  • Come to the board meeting on Tues. Jan 26th.  Meeting starts at 5pm but plan to arrive by 4:15 or 4:30 to fill the seats inside.
  • Email the Board trustees.  Email addresses   This is an election year for 3 of the members.  When you are writing to them let them know that how they vote will determine your vote for them in their upcoming election.

Flyers are being passed out to inform the community about the development project.  Flyers can be found here: savesr.blogspot.com/p/flyers.html

Please email the Save Scripps Ranch 2 flyer (PNG or PDF) to all of your contacts in Scripps Ranch so they are aware of the important meetings on Jan. 20 and Jan 26th.

Thank you to everyone who has distributed flyers at the Farmer's Market and the Vons shopping center.

If you have passed out flyers on your street or neighborhood please list the street or neighborhood in the comments section below so we do not overlap coverage.
